Swedish nuclear physicist Elina Berglund Sherwitzl has created the world's first application that can be used as a contraceptive. The girl used hormonal contraceptives, but decided to find a replacement for them and, not finding anything suitable, she came up with her own remedy called Natural Cycles.

“Like many women, I have tried different contraceptive options since adolescence and have never found a solution that suits me personally. It was in the process of searching for an effective natural alternative that I discovered that body temperature can be used to determine the period of fertility. And it was a revelation for me,”said Berglund Sherwitzl.

Elina assures that the Natural Cycles application can detect the ovulation period with absolute accuracy. The main indicator in determining this is the data on the woman's body temperature.

The app was released in 2014, and 300,000 women are already using it.

And this year, the app was patented as the first technological device used as a contraceptive.

Natural Cycles is in no way inferior to the usual contraceptives. Scientists came to such results after testing the application, which was attended by 4,000 women. The key to using Natural Cycles is to follow all instructions exactly.

“Just like taking pills, users have to perform certain daily activities. But we really hope to become an alternative way for those who do not want to use hormonal contraception or an intrauterine device,”says Elina.

“We have achieved more than I hoped, and it’s an amazing feeling. But we should not be satisfied with what has already been achieved, - says Elina. "Now is the time to grow and attract all women in the world … Every pregnancy should be happy."
