Nuts need to be soaked before eating. Why? It is interesting to know what is the danger of "dry" nuts.
Nuts, like all grains, contain phytic acid… She protects them from animals, giving them the opportunity to mature. Phytic acid residues in nuts complicate the digestion process. If you soak the nuts, they will get rid of the harmful acid. Water acts as an inhibitor of harmful acidic enzymes into which it breaks down. This means that nuts are easier to digest, and the process of absorption of vitamins will be faster and more complete. Plus, if you soak the nuts in warm water, they'll peel off easily!
Here's how long you need to soak different types of nuts:
1. Walnuts - 8 hours;
2. Almonds - 12 hours;
3. Pecan - 8 hours;
4. Pumpkin seeds - 7 hours;
5. Macadmia nuts - 4 hours;
6. Pine nuts - 8 hours;
7. Hazelnuts - 8 hours;
8. Cashews - 6 hours;
9. Flax seeds - 6 hours;
10. Alfalfa seeds - 12 hours;
11. Broccoli seeds - 8 hours.
And remember: if you decide to soak nuts for a long time and thoroughly, you need to change the water in the bowl every 8 hours.
