Editorial staff Interesting to know has collected for you a selection of the most unusual trees in the world
The tree is also known as dracaena, which means dragon in Greek. In ancient times, people believed that the sticky red sap that the tree gives off was nothing more than the blood of a real dragon. According to legend, once a huge elephant fell on the creature, as a result of which the dragon's blood soaked into the ground and then climbed the trunk of a tree that grew in this place. In fact, the substance secreted by the tree is a red resin, the healing properties of which have been known since ancient times.
These trees grow in the Canary Islands. But recently, due to the collection of resin, their number has sharply decreased, and now the trees are listed in the Red Book.
The rainbow eucalyptus is undeniably the most striking tree on the planet. It grows in the Philippines. The tree is so colorful that at first you might think that a skilled artist has worked on its trunk. However, there is a scientific explanation for this riot of colors. The fact is that the bark of this type of eucalyptus changes its color depending on age: at first it is green, then gradually darkens, then becomes blue, later - purple, and at the very end of the life cycle - burgundy or orange. Thus, the rainbow spots on the tree trunk are a kind of indicator of the age of the plant. Unfortunately, rainbow wood is very rare as it is widely used to make premium paper.
Perhaps the scariest tree on the planet. The plant got its name from the dark red liquid that it secretes when damaged. A felled tree looks like a damaged limb of an animal. Since the terrifying liquid helps heal and seal the "wounds" of the tree, it is believed to also help get rid of various blood-related problems. Despite its terrifying appearance, wood is widely used to make furniture, and its flowers are extraordinarily beautiful.
Tulip tree - spatodea
It is also called the fire tree. A similar name was given to the tree due to its appearance. The tulip tree is rightfully considered one of the most beautifully flowering in nature. Spatodea flowers, collected in lush bright inflorescences, have a bright orange hue and are beautifully set off by dark green foliage. The fire tree can be up to 25 meters long. The flowers of the tree, reminiscent of tulips, retain moisture in themselves, so very often you can see a congestion of birds around the spatodea.
