Tell me, how would you feel if you found a lonely sick baby in an empty house on a dirty floor? It is unlikely that at this moment someone will be able to restrain emotions. This is exactly the case with the heroine of our story.

Sarah Konck worked for a time at a medical center in Haiti. Most of the population in Haiti lives below the poverty line in very poor conditions. Many are unable to pay for even the simplest treatment. Nevertheless, Sarah always tried to help the sick and to do everything in her power.

Once a three-month-old baby was brought to the clinic. Even at first glance, it was clear that the girl had a neglected form of hydrocephalus. With this disorder, fluid accumulates in the ventricles of the brain and the child's head takes on an unnatural bloated shape. The baby needed an urgent operation. The doctors were able to help the girl, but even after the operation, she needed special care and medical supervision. However, when Sarah told the girl's mother that she could take her daughter, the woman for some reason was in no hurry to come for her. Sarah assured the baby's mother that they would continue to treat the child free of charge and even promised to help in any way possible. In the end, the mother came for the baby and took her away.

As time went on, but the little patient no longer appeared in the clinic, although her condition needed strict control. Sarah tried several times to call the girl's mother, but could not contact her. The woman decided to go to the indicated address and personally make sure that everything is in order with the baby.

However, what Sarah discovered is forever engraved in her memory. The baby was lying completely alone on the dirty floor in the middle of the rubbish. There was no longer a soul in the house, and the child was severely emaciated and dehydrated. It is not known how long the girl was not fed. The apparently careless mother decided to just leave her.

Sarah took the baby to the clinic. Long months of treatment and recovery followed. The doctors did not give any hope, but the girl survived, no matter what. During this time, Sarah managed to arrange custody of the baby, who was given the name Nick. After the treatment, the new mother took Nika home. The girl will have to remain under medical supervision throughout her life. But now she has a real loving mother who will never leave and will always be there.

Little Nika had to go through a lot. But she finally found her real mother.
