The atmosphere of foggy London has always inspired poets, writers and artists. For example, the gothic novel by Robert Stevenson "The Strange Story of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde", which has survived more than 60 film adaptations, takes place in London.

These old photographs were taken between 1910 and the 1950s. The streets depicted in them are buried in a dense fog so familiar to local residents that they reacted calmly during the Great Smog that occurred in December 1952 and killed about 12,000 people. It was a real killer fog. And in this collection, the famous London fog simply wraps up the capital of Great Britain, hiding its stately architecture and passers-by.
