A young couple from Great Britain was about to have a son. The parents-to-be have already chosen a name for the boy - Brody. But at 24 weeks gestation, they were told that the fetus had a bilateral cleft lip and palate (cleft lip).
Doctors gave advice to have an abortion, because this pathology can mean other health problems. Sarah and Chris didn't even think about getting rid of the baby. They were ready to accept him for who he is.
This is how the baby looked after birth.
“It's okay to be proud of your child, no matter the circumstances,” Sarah said. “We decided to post the ultrasound images / newborn / its first year on our Facebook / Instagram accounts. We wanted people to know more about this pathology."
The kid could not drink normally, eat and even smile.
When the boy grew older, he underwent surgery and corrected his face.
This is what Brodie looks like today. Was it worth giving up the baby due to a defect in the mouth?
